PLAID FRIDAY AND OAKLAND HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN
Oakland Holiday Campaign: Plaid Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday and More!
Lakeshore had a great showing for Plaid Friday and the Oakland Holiday Campaign the weekend after Thanksgiving. Many braved the Friday rain to support our local businesses and on sunny Small Business Saturday, many had recovered from their Thanksgiving meal in time to show their support for our wonderful merchants! It was not over then, there was Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday and this was just the gateway to holiday shopping that is still going strong!
Thank you to Mayor Libby Schaff and Councilmember Abel Guillén and everyone that supported the Gateway to the Holidays Weekend and to all merchants that participated:
Plaid Friday drew a lot of press which can be seen HERE .
Plaid Friday was conceived from the idea of weaving the individual threads of small businesses together to create a strong fabric that celebrates the diversity and creativity of independent businesses. Plaid Friday is the relaxing and enjoyable way to shop the weekend after Thanksgiving and is designed to be a gateway to promote both local and independently owned businesses during the holidays. Conceptualized in Oakland, Plaid Friday strives to bring back the days when shopping for friends and family during the holidays was a pleasurable and leisurely activity.
A big thanks to Buckingham Wines and Spirits and The Gap for hiring an arborist who trimmed the two street trees in front of the Gap and a third in front Adventure Toys and Learning. The thinned branches mean that part of the street is now better lit at night.
