June 2021

Summer is starting on Lakeshore with more movement and anticipation than usual. Business is picking up and California is on track to fully open on June 15th. While we do not know what all the new rules will be and it is a long road back to “business as usual” on Lakeshore and Lake Park Aves, planning and positive change is in the air. June on Lakeshore includes Father’s Day, Giving Back, Accolades, National Donut Day, Working on Lakeshore and more!

Starting Summer on Lakeshore

Celebrate summer! Get a sneak peek (and great finds) with new items at Urban Indigo, Silver Moon Kids, True, and Adventure Toys. Bay-Made has its art supplies back in stock, and the shop is expanded back to its normal size, possibly hinting at classes in the near future. Gymboree has in-person classes for babies and toddlers back on schedule and Hipline’s classes are going strong (virtual classes for now).

The Cathouse Bar re-opened on May 14th! They had to temporarily close during the majority of the pandemic, if you feel like a drink drop in and say hello!

Father’s Day

Lakeshore and Lake Park Aves are a fantastic place to plan for and celebrate Father’s Day! You can find clothing and gifts at True or the Gap, and gifts and cards at Urban Indigo. Enjoy morning brunch at the Lakeshore Cafe and Shakewell or lunch and dinner at Rico Rico Taco, Lin Jia, or Proposition Chicken. Splurge on sweets from Arizmendi, Holy Land, or Colonial Donuts, and don’t forget coffee at Peet’s Coffee or Starbucks and drinks at Buckingham‘s. Treat every kind of Dad on Lakeshore, we truly have something tasty and fun for everyone!

Giving Back and Accolades

On June 10th, Bardo Lounge and Supper Club is partnering with Meals on Wheels of Alameda County for their virtual livestream event, taking place June 10th at 6pm, which includes a live performance by 3-time Grammy winner, Fantastic Negrito! Tickets are $40 each with the option to add on one of their 3-course dinner kits for 2 for $145. Some of the other fabulous local restaurants are also participating. Delivery available through FEASTIN.COM throughout the immediate Bay Area.

Together, they are hoping to raise $100,000 to help Meals on Wheels programs deliver nutritious meals throughout the summer to our homebound senior neighbors. Every $9 guarantees the delivery of a nutritious meal to a senior in need. Snag a ticket and order your meal kits by June 2nd here.
NOTE: If you can’t make it to the event, you can still donate through the same link!

Heart and Dagger Saloon is featured in this month’s issue of Chilled Magazine in an article about running a sustainable bar program. Thank you for leading the way with sustainable practices, Heart and Dagger Saloon!

Also, check out that jacket from the Serenader’s former pool league. Heart and Dagger’s pool table will be opening up soon (stay tuned)!

National Donut Day!

June 4th is National Donut Day! National Donut Day is the first Friday of June, following the Doughnut event created by The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 to honor those of their members who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. Be sure to stop by Colonial Donuts!

Work on Lakeshore Ave

Looking for work? As business picks up, our local businesses are looking for dedicated workers. Be sure to check out your favorite Lakeshore and Lake Park businesses because many have openings right now.

Looking Forward to Summer!
