October 2021

Urban Indigo

While the businesses and community still have to take public health cautions, Lakeshore businesses are bringing October in with creativity, spirit, and community. It is still early and the Halloween spirit is just getting started on Lakeshore. Some businesses are expanding their offerings and others are creating new events or carrying new products. Lakeshore businesses are celebrating anniversaries, giving back, and showing their cutest pets (or customers), read all about it!

It may still be early October, but Lakeshore businesses are already giving a sneak peek of their planned Halloween fun! While there is no parade this year due to public health reasons, there is plenty to enjoy on Lakeshore for everyone!

Looking for local candy to give out or try yourself? Check out the gummy bears made with California fruit at Urban Indigo or the local caramels and chocolate at Bay-Made.

Looking for Halloween activities for the whole family? Adventure Toys has Sugar Skulls that you can paint, color, or make for origami. For those that are more industrious, there is a 1000 piece pumpkin puzzle.

Looking to get into the Halloween spirit? Enjoy Silver Moon Kid’s spooky and fun Halloween windows. Heart and Dagger Saloon is having a Halloween Bash that you can start planning a costume for (costumes encouraged but not mandatory). This is just the start of the Halloween activity on Lakeshore, keep an eye out for more later in the month!

Some Faces in Lakeshore Businesses

Chef Amol Thanky

A big welcome to Chef Amol Thanky to Bardo Lounge & Supper Club! Chef Amol joined the Bardo in February of 2020, just before the early pandemic. While Bardo navigates fully re-opening, Amol is back and his food is tasting better than ever. Come try his house-made Raviolo, the Summer Squash Gratin or Bardo guest favorite – Seared Scallops.

Lisa Vortman

Arise Yoga is excited to welcome Lisa Vortman! Lisa discovered yoga as a vital practice for living and working creatively in 2014. As her own understanding of yoga evolved, so did her vision for shared experiences. Lisa received a 200 hr Yoga Teacher Certification in 2016 and began leading local and international retreats to facilitate opportunities for self-exploration, trust, and connection. Lisa is excited to continue learning, growing and sharing with others along the way. Catch Lisa on the mat for Creative Flow, Saturdays at 12:15. Sign up here.

Regina

Regina became a yoga instructor almost 11 years ago, as she loved the balance and focus that comes with a concerted practice. She says yoga has opened her thinking, shifting her perspective and helped her be more creative and grounded. Regina will be offering a free Community class every Sunday at 4pm with Arise Yoga. She sees the Community class as an opportunity to experience and benefit from a wellness practice one otherwise may not have. Regina feels that it is important for us to all be well, balanced and have peace within us as we move through our days. While the class is free, donations are welcome and all proceeds collected each month will be gifted to a local organization.
