October 2022

October is here, and Lakeshore is ready! We have our Halloween Parade on 10/29, and businesses are already decorating and carrying spooky Halloween goods. The days are getting shorter, but there are several distinct Happy Hours for everything from specialty cocktails to specialty coffee that you can visit to relax at the end of the day. Read Oakland Pride month, Finds on Lakeshore and Urban Indigo closing and anniversaries, and more!

The Lakeshore Halloween Parade is set to happen on 10/29 from 10 am – 12 pm! It will start at Lakeshore Baptist Church and circle around Lakeshore Ave.

We already have a sneak peek of Lakeshore Business’s planned Halloween fun! Silver Moon Kids is a perfect place to find costumes, Arizmendi will have delicious Halloween cookies, and Bay Made carries locally-made spooky and divine chocolate, caramel, and more.

Seasonal Happy Hours on Lakeshore

As the days get shorter, Lakeshore businesses have you covered with good drinks, food, and company as the workday ends and the sun goes down. We are lucky to have several places to go for Happy Hour, all with their own unique twists. Try Caña’s legendary mojitos 4:30-6:30 pm, play pool and enjoy drinks at Happy Hour prices at Heart and Dagger Saloon 3-7 pm, enjoy creative small bites and sangria or special cocktails at Shakewell 4:30 – 6 pm or “have a Meow time” from 5-8 pm at The Cat House.

If you want an alcohol-free Happy Hour, Shakewell has incredible mocktails. If you hit them on the right day, Peet’s Coffee often has discounts on drinks after 2:00 pm.

Happy Anniversary and Oakland Pride month

Congratulations to the Oakland LGBTQ Center on its 5th year anniversary! This year’s theme was “Fairy Proud” and, in collaboration with Children’s Fairyland the annual LGBTQ Family Day took place at Children’s Fairyland on 9/10 and 9/11/22.

The Oakland LGBTQ Community Center partnered with Oakland Pride to celebrate LGBTQ+ diversity in Oakland and the strength, resilience, and beauty within our city with PrideFest.

Lakeshore Avenue businesses also honored Oakland Pride month; Hipline hosting two LGBTQIA+ events: A yoga & dance exploration of queer identity and Pride Pop back. Arise Yoga held a Gentle Hatha for the Queer Community. Shakewell, Proposition Chicken, and others showed their support for Oakland Pride month and the LGBTQ+ community.
