September 2019 Happenings

Labor Day ushers September in with a long relaxing weekend. Lakeshore is still buzzing with activity this weekend, making a local staycation delightful! However, on Labor Day, many (but not all) merchants will be closed.

Lots of news on Lakeshore including accolades Shakewell and the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center recently received, several merchants engaging and giving back to the Oakland community, upcoming events and workshops (that are filling up fast) and more. Read all about it!

Long Weekend Glimpse

Celebrate not having to work on Monday by saying hello and enjoying Lakeshore merchants, making it as fun a long weekend as ever! Lakeshore is buzzing this weekend, here is just a glimpse of some of the many places to go, experience and see:

Dress Best for Less had a 50% off sale on Saturday, August 31st and Namaste Yoga Boutique is helping us bring fall in with the intention of Self Care. Are you are not quite ready to say goodbye to summer? Urban Indigo can help keep the memory alive with this hand made pineapple vase that includes a live air-plant!

Cana is keeping the spirit of summer with their Sunday Funday party and Bardo Lounge and Supper Club is a superb place to dazzle your date – or relax with a friend. The Cathouse Bar crew will give you a meow time into the wee hours of the night (no work Monday!). Heart and Dagger Saloon is open all weekend long, including Labor Day.

Kudos and Accomplishments

A huge congratulations to Shakewell for winning Nextdoor’s 2019 Neighborhood Favorite breakfast and brunch restaurant! They remind us that they work incredibly hard “but it’s really only because of the constant loyalty from our customers that we’re able to receive such a title!” That said, this year Shakewell also celebrated their five year anniversary on Lakeshore and won  Oakland Magazine’s 2019 Readers’ Choice Best of Oakland and the East Bay for Best Happy Hour and Best Cocktails. A stellar year and well deserved kudos all around.

Congratulations Oakland LGBTQ Community Center for being featured as the cover story of the Oakland Pride Edition of the East Bay Express. Additional congratulations are in order for Oakland LGBTQ Community Center co-founder and board president, Jeff Myers for being selected as the Community Grand Marshal of this year’s Oakland Pride Parade!

Happy 2nd Anniversary to the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center AND Happy 10th Annual Oakland Pride Celebration!
