September 2021

Lakeshore continues to work hard and find new ways to serve the community. Find creative Labor Day drinks and activities, helpful items for back to school giving back, and more. As this year is challenging, please continue supporting local businesses by purchasing locally whenever possible. Of course, on Lakeshore and Lake Park Ave, we have the added bonus of having fabulous local businesses to love!

Creative Cocktails and Ideas for Labor Day Weekend

Lakeshore and Lake Park Aves have a variety of elegant and tasty drinks that will certainly delight one’s palette (and most have delicious non-alcoholic drinks available too).

Rico Rico Taco has cervezas, micheladas and a Spicy Michelada to make at home! You can buy canned micheladas with simple instructions. Absolutely delicious with their flautas, tacos, and burritos!

Shakewell is constantly adding to their menu, available for to-go and delivery or to be enjoyed in their parklet! To complement their divine cuisine, Shakewell has a variety of cocktails available. Their newest creations are the Bitter Glitter, made with Kirshwasser Black Forest Cherry Brandy, Cocchi di Torino, Bruto Americano & Burnt Rosemary and Paku-Paku, a semi-sweet and tart cocktail featuring Bimini Coconut Gin, Yellow Chartreuse, house-made Strawberry Shrub, Orgeat, and Lime — garnished with a Strawberry Pocky stick!

Caught In The Rain – Bardo

Always elegant and delectable, Bardo Lounge and Supper Club have an entire page of cocktails including Caught In The Rain, Back Porch, Cloud Burst, The White Whale, Cherry Bomb, and more. This is in addition to their divine appetizers, entrees, and desserts (such as raviolo, summer squash gratin, and carrot cake). Make a reservation here.

The Cat House Bar has a variety of amazing cocktails including their signature Dear Irene, E &E, Mata Hari, and High Tide Mai Tai. To tease the taste buds, see Housemade tonic deconstructed above and visit for a fresh tonic soon!

Buckingham Wine and Spirits has a drink for every occasion. If you talk to the staff you will learn about their whiskeys, bourbons, vodkas, gins, ciders, and more. They carry over 1,338 products, including rare and sophisticated items and local craft beer. Buckingham Wine and Spirits is a store, everything is to-go.

Labor Day Weekend is also a good time to relax, go shopping, and do a workout! Arise Yoga has a full schedule of classes, most of which are currently practiced outside. Hipline offers live stream classes and how offers them on demand, which means you can shimmy with Hipline whenever is most convenient for you! Maribel, a consignment clothes boutique has wonderful clothes, Urban Indigo has jewelry, accessories, cards, and household items and Bay-Made has delectable local art, items, and goods.

In an effort to keep businesses safe for customers and staff, some businesses are requiring proof of vaccination for entry. On Lakeshore Ave, The Cat House and Bardo Lounge and Supper Club are requiring proof of vaccination.

Giving Back

Joy Street Intiative

Kudos to Proposition Chicken who announced that this year to date, their Non-Profit Monday program has donated more than $10,000 back to local organizations!

Their August non-profit Oakland partner was Joy Street Initiative, which is dedicated to improving lives through transforming spaces for other local Bay Area nonprofit organizations.

A BIG shout-out to the Oakland Oakland LGBTQ Center for partnering with Lifelong Medical Care to provide free COVID-19 vaccines. On August 4th, Oakland LGBTQ Center provided space for free vaccines in their clinic.

Thank you for keeping our community safe!
