A Frightfully Fun Time!
Every October, Lakeshore Avenue comes alive for the annual Halloween Parade and Harvest Festival, co-hosted by the Lakeshore Avenue Business Improvement District and Lakeshore Baptist Church.
This year’s festivities will be on Saturday, October 26th, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Families are invited to gather at the church for fun games, exciting prizes, and a tasty handmade corn dog lunch.
Afterward, join the parade in your best costume, and enjoy trick-or-treating at participating businesses.
Be sure to capture the fun at the photo booth—a memory for all ages!
Cheesecakes and more coming to Lakeshore!
Exciting news for Lakeshore Avenue! Crazy Block Cheesecakes, known for their rich, New York-style cheesecakes made from local and organic ingredients, is set to open a new storefront in October. Already a fan favorite at various farmers’ markets across the Bay Area, including Alameda, this local gem offers numerous decadent flavors. Expect to see them at 3355 Lakeshore Avenue soon, adding to the vibrant food scene in the area.

We were sad to lose the Lakeshore Cafe after 22 years, but we are excited about the new breakfast/lunch spot that’s coming in its stead. The Peach, by owner Kao Saelee and chef-partner Intu-On Kornnawong, who brought Jo’s Modern Thai (a unique Thai dining experience) to Oakland, is in the middle of renovating the space. Expect the menu to include breakfast favorites with infusions of Thai flavors and styles. Fingers crossed that it opens soon! Learn more in this excellent SF Chronicle article.
Shakewell Bar—According to Instagram, while the restaurant we’ve loved for more than a decade is closed, the bar remains open. An affordable bar bites menu is available to accompany your favorite drinks (including the Fairlane, craft beers, ciders, wines, and more). You can expect to see occasional pop-ups from some of the Farmers Market’s prepared-food vendors. Hours are Monday through Thursday 4-9 pm and Friday through Saturday 4 – 10 pm. (Closed on Sundays.)
