How to Shop Responsibly During Shelter-in-Place
Many of our locally-owned, neighborhood businesses have long been skating on thin ice due to a multitude of challenges. The COVID-19 virus represents an unprecedented crisis that poses a threat to the survival of even the most successful of those businesses while, at the same time, residents are being required to Shelter-in-Place.
The Lakeshore Business Improvement District and the Splash Pad News are doing what we can to direct you to nearby food sources while also assisting the locally-owned neighborhood businesses we value so highly. Please note that the information we’re providing isn’t complete and will be evolving over time – as is the case with COVID-19 virus and its effects. Here’s what you can do to help – so we can celebrate together when the crisis ends:

Aisle 5 – Open now from 1:00 to 7:00 PM daily, for to-go orders only. Place an online order at their website or call ahead at 519-879-7053. You may also purchase cans and bottles of beer or take home a growler of their house-brewed craft beer. Follow on Facebook and Instagram.

Ikaros Greek Restaurant – Open 11 am to 11 pm Tuesday-Sunday (5-11 pm Mondays). Shakewell Shakewell is open for takeout & delivery services on Wednesday-Sunday, 11:30am-7:30pm until further notice. Special menu is on their website. Peet’s Coffee has takeout and encourages you to use its Mobile Order Ahead app. They have free shipping if you order coffee to make at home on Peets.com for through April 14. Open 5:00 am to 8:30 pm daily.
For Groceries:
Grocery stores and the Grand Lake Farmers Market are considered an “essential service” to provide food to the community.
Lakeshore Natural Foods is open from 10:00 am-6:00 pm Monday-Saturday, 10:00 am-5:00 pm on Sunday. They are limiting the number of customers allowed in the store at one time.
Lakeshore Produce is open 9:00 am-7:00 pm Monday-Saturday, 10:00 am-6:00 pm Sunday. Please practice social distancing.
Trader Joe’s is open 9:00 am-7:00 pm. They are only letting a limited number of people in at one time to keep social distancing. They have increased the frequency of cleanings and are paying close attention to high touch areas such as restrooms, register areas, grocery carts, and hand baskets. They have suspended all food and beverage sampling in-store.
Grand Lake Farmers Market – Open Saturdays from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Encouraged to remain in operation as an essential business that provides food in an open-air environment and serves as a critical component of our local food system. The market has implemented additional health and safety procedures to protect their staff, producers, and shoppers in accordance with state and county health orders for COVID-19:
- Adding additional hand-washing and sanitizing stations.
- Increasing space between booths to maintain social distancing.
- Requiring all prepared food to be sold to go.
- Farmers are working to pre-pack produce for easier checkout and to

Grand Lake Farmers Market customers can now order and pay online for BOUNTY BOXES that will be picked up curbside beginning April 11. This is in addition to all the other measures that have been implemented to ensure compliance with CDPH guidelines for social distancing while ensuring that community members can buy essential groceries in an open-air environment from local farmers, bakers, and producers of packaged goods.
