New Happenings and Delights on Lakeshore

Rico Rico Taco

Lakeshore always has an amazing array of incredible and creative food and May was no exception. Just a few examples are the Rico Rico Taco’s family’s favorite ceviche for Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day specials such as Shakewell’s Chocolate-almond bread pudding with strawberries, cream and buttermilk syrup or Arizmendi’s edible flowers placed on top of sourdough cruffins (croissant muffins) filled with lemon curd & whipped cream.

Bardo Chef Amol’s newest entree is chicken and grits with mascarpone, fresh peas, asparagus, confit Pearl onions, mushroom sauce, and Anson Mills grits. Arizmendi features community artisan breads, morning pastries and a different gourmet pizza every Tuesday and Thursday-Sunday. Lin Jia Asian Kitchen features amazing flavor and offers vegetarian and gluten-free options (check them out on the third episode of Destination San Francisco, IGTV: @food_empiire).

Pop-Ups

Some Lakeshore businesses are helping other local businesses by offering space for their pop-ups. These pop ups are creative, fun and offer new things on an already dynamic street. On Mondays, Pizzetta Geraldine wood-fired pizza that sources from local farms is at Shakewell from 12:30-8:00 pm. They do in-person and pick up but no delivery. Sustainabar is run by a mother and daughter that make sustainable, plant-based soap bars and shampoo that are long-lasting and wrapped in recycled and compostable material which cuts out the plastic waste in wrapping and packaging. Bay-Made carries their soap and they did a pop-up there before Mother’s Day. Touch Vintage carries “once and future fashions, lucky charms and Ricky’s Records” and you can catch them at The Cat House on some Saturdays.

Movement on Lakeshore

Looking for some mindful movement and relaxation heading into summer? Arise Yoga has several options, including different classes such as Mindful Vinyasa, Powerful Vinyasa, or Flow and Reset every day at noon!

On June 10, Arise Yoga invites yogis to celebrate Pride with Gentle Hatha Yoga for the Queer Community with Melissa Andradawith. This includes an afternoon of gentle yoga, meditation, ecstatic dance, expressive art, and vulnerable community sharing. This workshop will be facilitated by Melissa Andrada (Mel – she/her), a queer Filipina-American born in Nigeria. As a DEI Strategic Advisor, Facilitator & Coach, and Yoga Teacher, Mel’s practice is dedicated to helping marginalized communities evoke the most powerful and loving expression of self. This workshop is open to members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Find more information here.

Hipline is shimmying with most classes being mask optional and it is required that you be up to date on all your vaccinations and boosted to dance without your mask. On May 14th there was a special outdoor shimmying in the parking lot. No experience was needed to join and we hope to see more.

On another note, Hipline is celebrating summer by creating a magical outdoor shopping experience in August. They are calling Bay Area creatives and small businesses that want a space to show and sell their goods to apply to be included. Vendor applications will be accepted through June 17th through their website.

May 4, 2022: ‘As a business, we’re not standing idly by while leaked opinions by the Supreme Court threaten to take away human rights… We’ll be donating $10,000 today through next Tuesday to organizations that support access to abortion and women’s reproductive healthcare. We’ll be donating each day to a different abortion fund, and the 7 funds we choose will be directly related to the 7 most highly impacted states should this reversal take place.’

Windows and Views

Check out the new window at Silver Moon Kids! Always creative and fun to see, showing just a glimpse of what lies inside. Urban Indigo is getting their new fantastical window decorated which is well worth a walk on Lakeshore and a glance inside their shop.

Bay-Made

Our businesses are so creative, and some bring the brightness inside too, especially with the late nights of summer coming in. Catch a glimpse of the sun before Happy Hour at the Cat House or catch the sun illuminating the gorgeous local artisan goods and art at Bay-Made. Find the light shining just right at Shakewell’s Happy Hour through the large open windows. Take a stroll on Lakeshore in the afternoon or early evening and you may be surprised at how many places you can enjoy the natural light inside as well as outside while discovering a new item, drink, or meal.
